One of the most pressing issues at this moment appears to be career-development strategies. The traditional aspiration of climbing the Lawyers ladder to make the ultimate goal of being successful has, for some lawyers, disappeared. Some attribute the new thinking to generational differences, arguing that the younger generation values the work/life balance too highly to want to 'sacrifice' their lives to become successful Lawyers. In contrast, the older generation, are seen as highly competitive and driven by money, characteristics that make them better suited to the rigours of the partnership ladder. Of course, this is generalizing, but there now seems to be a situation where young lawyers are openly admitting that partnership does not interest them. For law firms that are keen to retain talent, this requires a change in thinking to meet the needs of those that require a distinct and interesting career-development path that goes beyond the obvious lure of partnership.

harishThe legal system in India is predominantly, based on British Common Law. The primary sources of law in India are; the Constitution, the legislative enactments (statutes), the case laws, and the customary law. At the apex of the judiciary system is the Supreme Court of India. Each High Court is the highest court of appeal as far as that state is concerned. Sitting below the High Courts are several subordinate courts in a state e.g. family courts, tribunals, consumer courts etc. When an individual is aggrieved by the impugned decisions / error(s) of a public officer, a writ may be preferred against such officers to seek a certain relief against the decisions / error(s) committed, provided the individual is able to articulate the nature of the error(s) and gauge its legal significance, shall form a persuasive ground to prefer a writ against such decisions / error(s) committed.
